Donovan Mitchell has had quite the eventful offseason after the Cleveland Cavaliers star revealed that he is engaged to Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Coco Jones.
This year, Mitchell achieved immense success in his third full season with the Cavaliers, which was highlighted by back-to-back 40-point games in the NBA Eastern Conference semifinals.
Unfortunately for Mitchell, a nagging ankle injury reared its ugly head in the closing stages of the series, which the Indiana Pacers handily won in five games, 4-1.

It seemingly hasn’t taken long for Mitchell to get over the bad taste that the early playoff exit left in his mouth, however.

Taking to social media, the 28-year-old and Jones announced their engagement via a joint Instagram post in which the couple can be seen sharing a loving kiss as the sun sets.
In an ensuing video, Mitchell can be seen getting down on one knee to pop the question beside a pool at what appears to be a tropical resort.
“After an amazing season and a sold-out tour, Donovan Mitchell and Coco Jones took a moment to recharge on vacation, which turned it into a beautiful engagement,” Mitchell and Jones told People in an official statement.
“The couple has been dating for two years and look forward to building a life together.”
While Mitchell and Jones have largely kept their romance under wraps, reports suggest that the pair first met at Michael Rubin’s “White Party” on July 4, 2023. Then in September of 2024, the duo were spotted holding hands at an Usher concert in Las Vegas.
Despite their best efforts to keep their relationship a secret, it didn’t take long for Mitchell and Jones’ fans to suspect that something was up.
“I love the internet, because they definitely clocked my tea. I love that. Little spies everywhere, like I’m in a detective movie,” Jones said while making an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast earlier this year.
“I’m happy and I will say, my music is the outlet where I tell most of my stories and my truth. Some things I keep for myself because this is my life too.”
On Saturday, Mitchell stopped by the Cavaliers’ Summer League game against the Milwaukee Bucks, during which he shed light on the buildup to the proposal.
“It’s hard to keep secrets from her,” he conceded during the ESPN broadcast. “You know, I wear it on my face. So for this one to keep it for as long as I did — everybody in her family knew, everybody in my family knew.
