The report warned that brands such as Compliments, Foremost, Golden Valley, IGA and Western Family may contain salmonella contamination.
According to the report, “Only eggs with the specific lot code information in the table above are affected.”
Consumers are being asked to verify their cartons for specific lot codes listed in the recall notice.
Potentially contaminated eggs have been mainly distributed in Manitoba, Ontario, and British Columbia. However, the report warned about possible circulation in shell eggs sold to other provinces and territories.
“Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick,” the report said. “Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections.”

The CFIA is currently conducting a food safety investigation and officials are working to ensure the products affected are being removed from stores across the country.
According to officials, the recall was triggered by test results but no reported illnesses have been linked to the eggs.
Short-term symptoms of salmonella include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis. “Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased,” officials said.
Consumers are encouraged to reach out to their retailers if in doubt of the safety of their eggs.
