Grammy fans spot Diana Ross throw ‘shade’ at Kendrick Lamar after award win

Fans of the Grammy Awards think they spotted legend Diana Ross throw shade at Kendrick Lamar as she handed him his Song of the Year award.

The iconic songstress took to the stage at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles to present the award category. Among the nominees were Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Shaboozey, and Beyonce. However, it was rapper Kendrick Lamar who went home with the prestigious gong.

While the decision may have been a surprise to some at home, it also appeared to take Diana by surprise as she gasped: “Huh” before announcing the winner. as Kendrick for his tune titled Not Like Us. And fans online were quick to react to her response.

Taking to Twitter /X, one fan loving the moment wrote: “diana ross after reading kendrick’s name on that envelope #GRAMMYs,” alongside a clip of confused faces.

Another asked: ” Did Diana Ross just throw shade with that ahh before she said Kendrick Lamar???? #GRAMMYs #SongOfTheYear” And a third shared their delight by quoting: “The Grammy goes to…. *ahh* Kendrick Lamar” – Diana Ross” A fourth said: “i can’t rn im legit crying at diana ross giving the award to kendrick for this song this is comedy.”

The award came after a night of entertainment. Chappell Roan was awarded the Best New Artist of the Year at the bash. And she wasted no time in delivering a scathing message in her acceptance speech. She defiantly stated: “Labels, we got you, but do you got us?” The singer also pledged to fight for better compensation and welfare for artists, demanding that “labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off artists would offer a liveable wage and healthcare, especially to developing artists.”

She went on: “She said: “If my label would have prioritised artist health, I could have been provided care by a company I was giving everything to, so record labels need to treat their artists like valuable employees with health insurance and protection.”

And Beyonce also finally won the coveted Album of the Year Award for Cowboy Carter. Despite her glee, a number of fans online feel the award would have been better suited to fellow nominee, Billie Eilish.

In her acceptance speech, Bey paid tribute to a number of people closest to her, including her husband Jay-Z, who was also in attendance at the ceremony.
