Longtime North Carolina radio DJ ‘Ace’ Cannon, of ‘The Ace & TJ Show’, dead at 56

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Longtime Charlotte radio DJ, David “Ace” Cannon has died, his sister wrote on sister wrote on social media Tuesday night. 

“Please keep my family in your prayers as my brother, David Ace Cannon passed away today,” Piper Wilson wrote. 

“The Ace & TJ Show” was on Charlotte airwaves from 1998 until last fall. The syndicated morning show was broadcast on 95.1, 96.1 and most recently 104.7. But after Cannon departed the show in September, the show announced its flagship station was no longer carrying them.  

TJ remained on the air with the TJ & Riggins Show. They also offered condolences Tuesday night. 

“Our Prayers are with our brother. We are devastated by the news. Please keep Cade, Shonnette, Dax, Amanda and Piper in your prayers.”

Ace and TJ were also known for their charity work. They operated Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids and created Payton’s Promise in 2020, in honor of Ace’s late daughter who died in a car accident that year. She was 21.

Cannon lived in the Lake Norman area. Funeral services are unknown at this time.
