Authorities arrest suspect in fatal New Albany warehouse shooting

NEW ALBANY, Ohio — Authorities arrested the suspect wanted in the fatal shooting at a New Albany warehouse Tuesday night.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Bruce Reginald Foster III, was arrested at a home on East 7th Avenue near the Short North Arts District sometime after 10 a.m. Wednesday, according to New Albany officials.

According to a warrant filed in Licking County Court of Common Pleas, Foster is charged with aggravated murder in the shooting at KDC/One.

Around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers arrived at the facility on Smiths Mill Road North on a report of an active shooter situation. Police found six people who were shot.

One of the shooting victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The other five were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police did not release additional information on their conditions, but did say that the shooting victims were all employees.

New Albany Police Chief Greg Jones said the shooting appeared to have been a targeted attack, but a motive has not been determined.

Jones confirmed that Foster was an employee at the warehouse and was working “for some time” before the shooting. Employees who were interviewed by police said there was not any type of confrontation.

“We don’t have any reports that there was an issue, that he was in an area that he wasn’t supposed to be, that he was in trouble in any way, that there was any conflict,” he said.

A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Before Foster’s arrest, law enforcement officers were searching addresses linked to him.

“This has been a very tragic situation. Our thoughts go out to the victims, their families and everybody that works at this facility. This is something that we hoped would never happen in our community, but we prepare for it, and this is where we are now,” Jones said.

KDC/One will remain closed as law enforcement processes the scene.
