Fans were left disappointed after Jake Paul and his brother Logan Paul teased a potential fight between them soon. As it turns out, the build-up was nothing more than a marketing stunt to announce the upcoming launch of their reality show, “Paul American,” which is set to air on March 27 on streaming service Max.
As it turns out, however, Jake Paul and his team have been working hard behind the scenes to set up his next fight. While it won’t be against his brother, the 28-year-old fighter is now set to get in the ring with one of the top fighters in the sport today.
According to ESPN’s boxing insider Mike Coppinger, Paul’s camp is closing in on a megafight against WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight champ Canelo Alvarez.
“Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul are in the process of finalizing a deal for a May 3 cruiserweight fight at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN,” Coppinger reported on X. “The bout will take place at the 200-pound limit (Canelo is a champion at 168 pounds). It’s slated to be streamed on Netflix.”
It is important to note that based on Coppinger’s report, it’s Alvarez who will be going up in weight significantly as he looks to meet Paul at 200 pounds. The limit for the supper middleweight weight class is 168 pounds, which means that Alvarez will need to put on roughly 30 pounds for the upcoming fight.
Jake Paul, who currently holds an 11-1 record with 7 KOs, last saw action in November when he scored a unanimous decision victory against boxing legend Mike Tyson. That fight was streamed via Netflix, and it was reported that the purse between the two fighters was somewhere around $80 million.

This is likely why Paul and Alvarez have supposedly agreed to have the fight aired via Netflix again, anticipating what could potentially be an even bigger payday.
Alvarez, 34, enters the fight with a 62-2-2 record with 39 KOs.
