KENNER, La. — Authorities have arrested a Slidell woman in connection with an ongoing investigation into the death of Adan Manzano, a media member covering the upcoming Super Bowl, who was found unresponsive in his Kenner hotel room.
Manzano was in the city to cover the Super Bowl for Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports. Telemundo released a statement on Facebook, calling Manzano “a true professional and a rising star.”
Kenner Police said Wednesday that Danette Colbert was taken into custody after investigators discovered she had been using Manzano’s credit card at multiple stores in the New Orleans area. Police said surveillance footage from the hotel showed Colbert with Manzano on the morning of February 5 and later leaving the room alone.
Colbert is currently facing charges related to fraud and theft, but authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active.
According to police, Colbert has a history of financial crimes, including allegations of drugging men, stealing money, and fraudulent credit card use.
Officials have not released Manzano’s cause of death, and it remains unclear if additional charges will be filed.
The coroner’s office tells WWL Louisiana that tests are underway to determine the cause of death but said there are no obvious signs of trauma.
Kenner Police urge anyone who may recognize Danette Colbert and has any information regarding her involvement in these crimes to call the Criminal Investigations Division at (504) 712-2222 or Crime Stoppers at (504) 822-1111.
