(WKRC) – Toyota has announced a safety recall affecting certain 2024-2025 Tacoma 4-wheel drive vehicles and 2025 Toyota Camry and Lexus NX, as well as 2024-2025 Lexus RX models in North America. The recall involves approximately 106,000 Tacoma vehicles and 41,000 Camry and Lexus vehicles in the United States.
The Tacoma recall addresses a potential issue with rear brake hoses that can be damaged by mud and dirt accumulation inside the rear wheels during off-road conditions. This damage could lead to a brake fluid leak, increasing the risk of a crash. Toyota dealers will replace the rear brake hoses with improved versions at no cost to customers. Notifications to affected customers are expected by early April 2025.
In a separate recall, Toyota is addressing a noncompliance issue with the second-row center seatbelt in certain Camry and Lexus models. The seatbelt may have been damaged during manufacturing, potentially failing to meet strength requirements and increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the seatbelt assembly free of charge. Customers will be notified by early April 2025.
Toyota advises vehicle owners to check if their vehicle is involved in these recalls by visiting Toyota.com/recall, Lexus.com/recall, or nhtsa.gov/recalls and entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or license plate information.
