Strong winds causing power outages are expected across eastern Pennsylvania from Sunday afternoon into Monday, including in the Poconos.
Carbon and Monroe counties are under a high wind warning from 1 p.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday. Winds are expected to be 25 to 40 miles per hour, with gusts up to 60 mph.
“Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” the National Weather Service said.
For Pike and Wayne counties, the warning is in effect from 4 p.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday. Winds are expected to be 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts up to 60 mph.
