Recap: Wizards comeback falls short in 104-101 loss

The Washington Wizards lost to the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday, 104-101.

The Wizards started the game on fire, draining a flurry of 3-pointers to grow a 32-19 advantage after one quarter. Alex Sarr hit both of his 3-point attempts in the opening frame.

Corey Kispert came off the bench and scored in double figures for the seventh straight game, this time hitting the mark in the first half. Despite Giannis Antetokounmpo going in and out of the lineup with an injury, Milwaukee clawed back behind a solid quarter from Kyle Kuzma. At halftime, Washington led 56-50.

It was all Milwaukee in the third quarter, going on a 15-5 run and outscoring the Wizards by 15 points in the frame. The Bucks’ defense locked down to grow a nine-point lead entering the final quarter.

Down 15 and with the game seemingly out of reach, Washington found a spark. They embarked on a lengthy run to cut Milwaukee’s lead to just one. Khris Middleton drilled a clutch three down the stretch as the Bucks led 104-101 with five seconds remaining.

Middleton received the ball out of a Wizards timeout with a chance to tie the game. but his contested 3-pointer wasn’t close as the Bucks escaped with a narrow win.

Sarr dropped a career-high 22 points in the loss. Kispert trailed behind with 16 points off the bench.
