People are collectively calling for a boycott of Kim Soo Hyun due to his alleged involvement in Kim Sae Ron’s death.

There are new developments surfacing regarding the death of Kim Sae Ron and they are tied to actor Kim Soo Hyun.

Found dead back in February at the young age of 24, many speculated that she was never the same after her DUI incident in Gangnam District from 2022. The accident caused her to not only miss out on a lot of jobs, but it also put her in financial difficulties.

The news, revealed by YouTube channel Hoverlab (Garoseoro Research Institute aka Gaseyeon), claims that Kim Soo Hyun engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Kim when she was just 15 years old and he was 27. This news was backed by Kim Sae Ron’s family who allegedly shared a photo of the two when Kim Sae Ron was 16. Both under the same agency, Gold Medalist, the story goes further to suggest that it was Kim Soo Hyun who added to her distress that ultimately ended with her taking her life on the day that was also Kim Soo Hyun’s birthday.

As part of the DUI incident, Kim Sae Ron was responsible for paying off all the cost for damages and the financial loss incurred by the production company for Netflix’s Bloodhounds show, where she was dropped from. Exhausting all her funds on court fees and property damage, she was left with a bill of KRW ₩700 million (~$483,000 USD) that she could not pay. This is where Kim Soo Hyun’s role purportedly comes in. While it was reported that the agency paid off the outstanding fine, it was actually Soo Hyun that personally lent her the money.

This was reportedly revealed in a text message where Soo Hyun later demanded the full amount of funds to be returned or face legal consequences: “Oppa, it’s Sae Ron. I received the certified letter. You’re suing me… I’ve been preparing for my return to acting, and I plan to repay you gradually from each project. It’s not that I won’t pay, but I can’t manage 700 million won (S$643,000) all at once. Please give me some time. I’m begging you, please help me,” reads the text.

With this news, many of Kim Soo Hyu’s biggest fans have voiced their distaste for the news, including one of his fan pages that has over 460,000 followers. There are even other rumours saying that actor Won Bin, whom shared the screen with Sae Ron in The Man From Nowhere (2010), attempted to pay off the debt himself but was turned down by Kim Soo Hyun and Gold Medalist.

Won Bin and Kim Sae Ron are known to play in the same movie “The Man From Nowhere” (2010). He made a rare public appearance at her funeral, after 15 years of hiatus.

Although Gold Medalist has denied the claims and is looking to take legal action against the Gaseyeon, many of the 19 brands that Kim Soo Hyu endorse have already started distancing themselves from him. As more info comes to light, fans may soon get closure on the specifics behind Kim Sae Ron’s untimely death and if Kim Soo Hyun had any influence over it.
