LSU QB Found Unresponsive Following On-Campus Car Accident

The LSU Tiger football team received devastating news after one of their players was found unresponsive in his car after a motor vehicle accident on campus around 2:45 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to a report from WBRZ 2 in Baton Rouge, LSU freshman quarterback Colin Hurley crashed his Dodge Charger into a tree near the south gates of the LSU campus near South Quad Drive and Highland Road.

The cause of the accident has not been determined yet but WBRZ 2 indicates it’s not believed Hurley was impaired.

According to officials, Hurley was breathing when he was found and the accident report stated he was in and out of consciousness with a large cut on his face when he was pulled from his vehicle by firefighters.

Hurley, a 6-foot-1 freshman from Jacksonville, FL, did not play this season behind starter Garrett Nussmeier and backups Rickie Collins and AJ Swann. Collins has since transferred to Syracuse and Swann to Appalachian State.

A four-star recruit and the No. 22 QB in the class of 2024, Hurley is expected to be the third-string signal-caller next season behind Nussmeier and Mississippi State transfer Michael Van Buren, who threw for 1,886 yards, 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions in nine appearances as a freshman for the Bulldogs this season.
