Method Man Allegedly Involved In Assault Of His Daughter’s Ex-Boyfriend

Method Man allegedly squabbled up a man while he was at a gym in New York.

According to a report the New York Post published on Thursday, January 16, the 53-year-old Wu-Tang Clan rapper was at a Crunch Fitness in Staten Island when he allegedly punched a 28-year-old man in the face seven times “with a closed fist.” The unidentified man reportedly felt dizzy and pain in his face but denied medical attention. Method Man was detained while at the gym and a police report was filed. However, the Post notes that the rapper was not arrested on the scene.

Method Man, born Clifford Smith Jr., reportedly fought with the victim after he realized he was an ex-boyfriend of his daughter Cheyenne. The two dated over a decade ago. No other details behind his motive have been confirmed.

The Tical rapper has become well-known for his work in film and television in recent years. He recently starred as “Davis MacLean” in the hit TV series “Power Book II: Ghost,” which earned him an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and previously appeared in season two of “Godfather of Harlem.” He also starred in the 2024 film Bad Shabbos alongside Kyra Sedgwick.

Meth has also garnered plenty of notoriety for his dedication to fitness. He launched a health and wellness page called “Tical Athletics” where he posts videos of his workouts and more. He recently posted videos to the page’s stories, but he hasn’t addressed the alleged assault just yet.
