Fortnite Godzilla: How to get the King of the Monsters

Fortnite Godzilla has now arrived in the battle royale, if you’re lucky enough to trigger the Security Alert that signals its impending appearance. If a Godzilla Portal opens then whoever gets there first will become the King of the Monsters, towering menacingly over their opponents and wreaking absolute havoc with their Heat Ray. There are also several ways to unlock a Godzilla outfit for your character, so you can bring a regular human-sized Kaiju into any situation. This titan monster won’t appear in every match though, so here’s the lowdown on how to get Godzilla in Fortnite.

Watch out for a special portal that can appear during battle royale matches, as this is your gateway to becoming the titan Godzilla in Fortnite – note that this will not appear in every match, so if it hasn’t triggered by the time the first storm circle has closed in then it’s probably not going to feature. When this happens a Security Alert will be displayed at the bottom of your screen and a marker will be triggered, along with an icon on your map. The location for the Godzilla Portal is seemingly randomized, so there is an element of luck as to whether it appears near you, so if you’re searching for it then the best approach is to grab a fast vehicle and stay mobile to chase it down the moment it appears.

The first player to jump through the portal will be turned into a gigantic Godzilla, who can then wage war on the island with a Roar that reveals nearby players, a Mighty Stomp Attack to launch enemies through the air, and a Heat Ray that will slice through structures and opponents alike.

This fight isn’t completely one-sided though, as the remaining players can team up to take Godzilla down. Monarch supply drops will frequently land in the area, which can be searched to gain powerful weapons such as the Rail Gun. Shooting the monster’s weak spots will deal additional damage, and this will also knock Godzilla’s Fragments off the Kaiju, which can then be consumed to receive 40 health along with three dash charges.

When you get close to your gigantic foe a health bar for Godzilla will appear, along with another bar tracking how your Damage Inflicted compares to the current #1 player. The player who deals the most damage to Godzilla will receive the Godzilla Medallion when it is defeated – providing a recharging dash ability with up to three charges in reserve – plus the exotic Burst Quad Launcher.
