56′ Arsenal 2-0 Aston Villa
Another goal from a cross, and another volley!
It was pretty simple, frankly, Arsenal centre-half Gabriel firing it out directly to Leandro Trossard on the left wing, with Lewis-Skelly in midfield. The hosts cleverly isolated Trossard with opposite man Matty Cash, one on one.
Once again, Trossard had the better of him, showcasing nice footwork to twist from one side to another, committing his man before pushing the ball beyond him,
He stood up a nicely aimed cross into the middle, Villa defenders Konsa and Mings were too deep as it was pulled back, and Kai Havertz had too much time and space to swing his leg at it.
It was straight at Martinez, who got contact on the ball but couldn’t keep it out. He might think he could have done better, though it was from close range, I suppose. Havertz’s eighth this season, and his first ever against Villa.
Arsenal looking very good here, and comfortable in defence too.
