Nick Kygrios has weighed in on Channel Nine broadcaster Tony Jones calling Novak Djokovic “overrated”.

Jones has come under fire on social media after he sledged Djokovic fans on air.

“Welcome back to Melbourne Park, where you can see the Novak Djokovic fans, they’re in full voice,” Jones said.

“The chants are quite extraordinary,” he said then added in his own chants.

“Novak, he’s overrated,” Jones chanted. “Novak’s a has-been. Novak, kick him out.”

Kygrios came to Djokovic’s defence on social media and laid into Jones.

“Coming from this clown – couldn’t run around a park this bloke,” Kygrios said.

Jones defended his comments as good-natured banter with the Serbian fans.

“We’ve been doing it all tournament and it’s all in good fun,” Jones said.

“This is the happy Slam.”

He declined to comment further.
