Columbus Weather: A snowy end to the week with temps near or below zero overnight

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Hocking, Pike, and Ross counties until 1:00 PM Sunday while Athens and Morgan counties remain under the Advisory until 8:00 AM Monday. Snow showers may produce totals up to 1-3″. Plan on slippery road conditions.

A COLD WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for Central Ohio until Wednesday morning with southeast Ohio (Athens) under the Advisory until Monday afternoon. Wind chills as low as -15 to -20 are possible. Limit the time you are outside and protect any exposed skin as it could take up to 30 minutes for frostbite.

Good morning, Central Ohio! It is a cloudy and colder start to the day with temperatures in the 20s. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect in Hocking, Ross, Pike, Morgan, and Athens counties as snow showers will be possible this morning to produce snowfall amounts of 1-2”. More bands of snow showers develop this afternoon with slippery conditions possible through the evening. There is a concern for snow squalls which could result in difficult travel conditions. Most areas will receive an inch or less of snow with locally higher amounts possible.

Snow showers exit this evening with mostly cloudy skies. Arctic air rushes into the region tonight with overnight lows near or below zero. Wind chills will make it feel like -10 to -20. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Central Ohio from tonight to Wednesday morning due to the negative double-digit wind chills. Take precautions to protect your pipes and limit the time you and your pup are outside.

Temperatures will only be in the single digits and low teens on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Our coldest morning will be Wednesday with temperatures below zero. By the end of the week, temperatures improve with highs in the upper 20s and low 30s on Thursday and Friday. By Saturday, highs will be closer to average with highs in the mid-30s.
