A wave of criticism broke over Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori, who appeared at the Grammy Awards Sunday night in a see-through minidress that left nothing to the imagination.
Entertainment Tonight initially posted the couple was “escorted out after showing up uninvited” after Ms. Censori dropped her black feather coat in front of photographers on the red carpet Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, revealing herself. The news outlet later deleted its post.
Gossip outlet Page Six also reported that police asked Mr. West and Ms. Censori to leave, with an insider saying the spectacle was “an attempt to replicate the album cover of Vultures,” which was independently released by Mr. West and singer Ty Dolla Sign last February.
But a Variety report disputed those claims, quoting a source close to the Grammys as saying that Mr. West simply “walked the carpet, got in his car and left.”
Amid the conflicting reports, sources told the Daily Mail that Grammy organizers intervened over concerns that CBS, which aired the awards show, could face fines and advertiser backlash due to Ms. Censori’s outfit.
“Everyone looked at them like they were crazy,” one insider told the U.K. outlet. “The word is that Kanye wanted to create a major publicity stunt because he’s worried he’s no longer the center of attention.”
The 47-year-old rapper and his 30-year-old wife, an Australian model, have courted controversy for years with their provocative antics.
