Bills wide receiver arrives to playoffs barefoot for day at beach despite freezing cold

There’s a 50% chance of snow during playoff the Buffalo Bills game against the Baltimore Ravens. There was a 100% chance Mack Hollins walked into the stadium barefoot.

Life’s a beach for the Bills wide receiver.

Hollins arrived to Highmark Stadium with Bills Zubaz swim trunks and an open Bills floral shirt. A Bills beach towel was draped over his shoulder and he accessorized with sunglasses and a straw Bills hat. Hollins carried a small Buffalo football and protected his nose with sunscreen.

“Even on cloudy days, folks, sunscreen,” Hollins said as he fist-bumped a stadium employee walked into the locker room.

Bills Mafia’s adopted son can block. Hollins has been praised for his downfield blocking, selflessness and attention to detail in his first season with Buffalo.

The Bills continue to prove their wide receiver room is not bare. But Mack Hollins’ feet almost always are.

The temperature at kickoff will be 18 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo. It feels like 11 degrees with the wind chill.

Hollins has sole power. He arrived for a game last month dressed as a barefoot mad scientist after the Buffalo region was hit with 2 feet of snow. Hollins entered Highmark Stadium in a Fred Flintstone costume and fuzzy Buffalo hat with horns before the Bills routed the Broncos in the wild-card round.

Hollins garnered attention from the Buffalo organization and fans for going barefoot at training camp. Add on a self-destructed fringed and frayed T-shirt and Hollins was compared to Tarzan. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady and Bills teammates, including Josh Allen and wide receiver Keon Coleman, dipped their toes into the barefoot experience.

Hollins has been going barefoot for several years unless he’s required to wear shoes, such as during an NFL game. He thinks “everyone should be barefoot.” Hollins has highlighted health benefits of going barefoot, including strengthening the knee and ankle.

Hollins has supported his his hygienic beliefs by saying he frequently washes his feet and that people don’t walk around in mittens.

“Shoes are definitely dirtier than feet,” Hollins said. “When’s the last time you washed the bottom of your shoe?”

“Shoes are a tool. You wouldn’t walk around with a hammer just because you might nail something every once in a while. Why walk around in shoes just because you might step on something every once in a while?”
