Chicago To See ‘Biggest Snow System’ So Far This Winter, With 3-6 Inches Expected Wednesday

CHICAGO — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Wednesday as snow is expected throughout the day.

By the end of it, there could be between three to six inches on the ground, a “pretty good bed,” said Gino Izzi, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

“We haven’t had much in the way of snow this year, so this will be our biggest snow system,” Izzi said.

A low pressure system carrying the snow is tracking across the Ohio Valley, “nothing unusual,” he said.

It’ll start snowing lightly Wednesday morning — with a period of heavy snow in the afternoon, according to Izzi.

There could be a lull in the late afternoon before a “little push” of more snow in the evening, Izzi said.

“There will be snow of varying intensities late morning into the evening tomorrow,” he said.

According to the National Weather Service, Thursday and Friday are forecast to feature sunny skies and temperatures in the 20s, with snow likely to return Saturday.
