Drake’s up to something, and if his latest Instagram post is anything to go by, it’s big. The Canadian rapper dropped a cryptic message on Monday, teasing a “next chapter” that, in his own words, “may leave (fans) feeling uneasy.” Whether he’s hinting at his ongoing beef with rapper Kendrick Lamar, a future project, or something completely new, Drake is keeping everyone guessing.
The post comes months after his infamous feud with Kendrick. Standing in a lavish, stained glass-decorated room, the ‘Hotline Bling’ singer struck a pensive pose in a black embellished jacket. “U know I grew up non-confrontational and always treated this game as a sport where my pen won gold,” he wrote. “But these days, the podium has been hard for all of us to ignore.”

Drake seems to be acknowledging the weight of the competition, possibly alluding to the intense back-and-forth with Kendrick. He went on to add, “I understand that this next chapter may leave you feeling uneasy, but I hope you see my honesty as clarity, not charity… especially about the unanswered texts you’ve been sending me.”

This cryptic message follows months of lyrical back-and-forth between Drake and Kendrick. Their sparring heated up last year when Kendrick dropped “Not Like Us,” a track that quickly became an anthem, topped Spotify charts, and ultimately grabbed a Grammy. But if that was not enough Kendrick also performed the song at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show, taking a high-profile jab at Drake in front of millions.
The rap feud that took over pop culture
The rivalry between Drake and Kendrick didn’t transcended the world of music. It spilled over into pop culture and had everyone talking. Even during the 2025 Oscars, host Conan O’Brien took a jab at their feud during his opening monologue.
The tension between Drake and Kendrick started back in 2013 when Kendrick dropped his verse on Big Sean’s ‘Control,’ calling out several rappers, including Drake. What followed was a long cold war, with both sides taking subtle shots and shading each other through their music.
But things exploded in 2024. Kendrick again dropped his verse on Metro Boomin’s ‘Like That,’ where he dismissed the idea of a “big three” in hip-hop. From there, it was an all-out war. He followed up with hard-hitting tracks like ‘Euphoria’, ‘6:16 in LA’, ‘Meet the Grahams’, and the chart-topping ‘Not Like Us’, which were packed with heavy accusations. Drake didn’t stay silent either. He fired back with diss tracks of his own, including ‘Push Ups Taylor Made Freestyle’, ‘Family Matters’, and ‘The Heart Part 6’.
