From former Brewers to Adam Sandler and Brett Favre, Bob Uecker’s reach went near and far

Bob Uecker has been the soundtrack of spring and summer in Milwaukee.

For Brewers fans, it’s been 54 seasons of Uecker’s greatest baseball hits, regardless if you started listening to his Hall of Fame play-by-play through a transistor radio or on Airpods.

Uecker died Thursday morning, but his timeless voice that brought sharp wit, humor and big-time personality to a small-market franchise will forever be cherished and remembered.

But you didn’t even need to like baseball a little to love Uecker a lot.

He had a special talent to be able to make anybody laugh at any time. Most folks are aware of his numerous appearances on Johnny Carson’s “The Tonight Show,” being a pitchman for Miller Lite, his lead role in the sitcom “Mr. Belvedere” and his classic performance in the 1989 movie “Major League.”

Yet, despite becoming a national celebrity, he was always True Blue to Milwaukee.

And his friendship is cherished by both current and past Brewers players.

Christian Yelich, paid tribute to Uecker on social media with a touching Instagram post.

And former catcher Jonathan Lucroy recalled a day of fishing on Uecker’s boat that suddenly did not include a net.

Here’s some additional Brewers-related tributes:

Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta posted a picture of Uecker and himself on his Instagram stories page with the caption “Legends never die.”

And Major League tributes came from outside of Milwaukee also:

Actor and comedian Adam Sandler weighed in:

A legend even in Packers Nation….
