Here’s What Host and Musical Guest Timothée Chalamet Will Sing on SNL (In My Mind)

Apparently, Timothée Chalamet is a singer now.

Last Friday, “Saturday Night Live” announced the line-up for it’s Jan. 18 and Jan. 25 shows, with the Jewish actor serving as both host and musical guest for the latter date. This led the majority of us to let out a collective: Huh?? Unlike most people tapped to perform music on SNL, Chalamet has never released an album, EP or even a single. He has not written or recorded any original music. Chalamet is undoubtedly hosting to promote “A Complete Unknown,” the Bob Dylan biopic in which he starred as the legendary folk-rock singer. So, will he sing a few Bob Dylan tunes? Or, what about songs from his high school rap career? Even still, what about music from other movies he’s starred in?

Here are a few scenarios of what I would like Timothée Chalamet to perform on SNL when he’s doing double duty as host and musical guest.

Scenario #1

Hey Alma’s content is free because we believe everybody deserves to be a part of our radically inclusive Jewish community. Reader donations help us do that. Will you give what you can to keep Hey Alma open to all? (It’s a mitzvah, ya know.)

Timothée plays “Like a Rolling Stone” for the first song. For the second song, he re-enacts Bob Dylan’s appearance in the “We Are the World” music video.

Scenario #2

Timothée eschews Dylan completely and resurrects his nascent rap career. As persona Lil Timmy Tim, he’ll perform “Statistics Song” for the first number. Then, he’ll cover “Roman’s Revenge” by Nicki Minaj, like he did in his high school’s talent show. As a surprise encore after Goodnights, Timothée will perform “Cling Cling Cling” by his “Saturday Night Live” persona SmokeCheddaDaAssGetta.

Scenario #3

Timothée goes completely rogue. For the first performance, he doesn’t sing anything. Rather, he does the Troye Sivan “You Just Got Me Started” dance for a good 10 minutes and flashes his little red undies. Later, he sings the “Oompa Loompa” song just to make sure everyone remembers that he was in “Wonka.” And finally, he’ll do an encore after Goodnights singing “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” But instead of Timothée singing the song as Bob Dylan, he’ll do a rendition as Bob Dylan doing an impression of Timothée Chalamet singing.
