SHAWANDA. THANK YOU. NOT MANY CARS ON THE ROADWAYS, BUT THERE WERE TONS OF PEOPLE OUTSIDE ENJOYING THE SNOW TODAY. ABSOLUTELY. OVER AT CITY PARK, SEVERAL PEOPLE TOOK WALKS. SOME KIDS EVEN PLAYED ON THE PLAY SET NEAR THE PAVILION. WDSU REPORTER JONAH GILMORE IS LIVE AT CITY PARK WITH A LOOK AT ALL THE FUN OUT THERE. AND MAN, IT LOOKED GORGEOUS THERE BEHIND YOU. JONAH YEAH, IT’S DEFINITELY GORGEOUS. I CAN TELL YOU THIS DAY IS ONE TO REMEMBER. IT WAS SNOWING AND IT WAS COLD AND YOU WOULD THINK THAT WOULD MAKE PEOPLE WANT TO STAY INSIDE, BUT INSTEAD THEY GOT OUT TO EMBRACE THIS HISTORIC DAY. I SENT PICTURES TO MY FAMILY BACK HOME AND THEY WERE LIKE, WHERE ARE YOU? AND I WAS LIKE, NEW ORLEANS. AND EVERYBODY WAS FREAKING OUT BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T EXPECT THIS AT ALL. THESE IMAGES ARE CERTAINLY WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS, BUT SNOW IN NEW ORLEANS CAN BE SUMMED UP IN ONE HISTORIC. FIRST OFF, IT’S COLD. SLIPPED A COUPLE TIMES, BUT IT’S BEEN IT’S BEEN A REALLY FUN TIME. YEAH, I’M REALLY EXCITED TO SEE HOW MUCH SNOW WE GET, HOW LONG IT LASTS. THE SNOW WILL NOT LAST A LIFETIME, BUT FOR THE MOMENT, NEW ORLEANIANS ARE TAKING IT ALL IN. MY FAVORITE PART ABOUT TODAY WAS PROBABLY DOING THE SNOWBALL FIGHT. SNOW ANGELS AND SNOWMEN. OBVIOUSLY IT’S NOT EXCELLENT FOR EVERYONE, BUT FOR THE MOST PART, IT’S JUST A CALM DAY WHERE WE’RE TAKING THE DAY OFF. THE SOFT WHITE SNOW BLANKETED SOUTH LOUISIANA, AND WHILE THAT’S RARE, IT WAS WELCOMED. WELL, I MEAN, IT’S MAGIC. IT’S ONCE ONE 150 YEARS THIS HAPPENED, YOU KNOW, SO IT’S MAGIC. LIKE A DISNEY MOVIE. AND THEY PUT SNOW IN FROM THE SNOW ANGELS TO SNOWBALL FIGHT. THE SIGHTS OF WHAT MANY ARE CALLING THE BAYOU BLIZZARD IS SOMETHING THEY WILL CHERISH FOREVER. IS IT COLD? NO. FIRST TIME I’VE EVER ACTUALLY EXPERIENCED SNOW. AND TO BE OUT HERE TAKING PICTURES. WONDERFUL. BACK OUT HERE. BACK HERE AT CITY PARK. YOU CAN SEE WE HAVE OUR RULER HERE IN THE SNOW. YOU CAN SEE WE’RE MEASURING CLOSE TO SIX INCHES OF SNOW HERE AT CITY PARK. NOW, SEVERAL PEOPLE I SPOKE TO SAY THEY DID NOT HAVE THE PROPER GEAR FOR TODAY, BUT THEY JUST LAYERED UP BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO GET OUT AND HAVE A GOOD TIME. REPORTING LIVE AT CIT
