Will Aerosmith be resurrected in some way, shape, or form? Bassist Tom Hamilton is leaving the door slightly ajar for some future return.
In an interview with WBUR, the 73-year-old bassist discussed vocalist Steven Tyler’s ongoing recovery. He said things are going well, but Tyler is going “at his own pace.” Hamilton then addressed Aerosmith’s possible future going forward.
“Maybe Aerosmith will do something in the future, but it’s a big if, and the last thing I want to be doing is to try and push Steven in that direction,” he clarified. “If we do anything in the future, it would come from him.
In August 2024, the band canceled their remaining dates on their “Peace Out… Farewell Tour” and effectively retired from all performances due to Tyler’s throat injury. The singer fractured his larynx in addition to vocal cord damage. Their final concert would be at Elmont, NY, on Sept. 9, 2023.
It might be possible for Aerosmith to record music again, but Hamilton closed the door for the remaining band members to continue without Tyler.
“There’s been no talk at all about going on the road with another singer. I can’t imagine it,” Hamilton said. “I’m sure all of us have music in our future and it will manifest itself in ways that we haven’t planned yet.”
