Former Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic was dealt to the Los Angeles Lakers late Saturday night in what is one of the most shocking trades in sports history.
The Mavericks received Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round selection from the Lakers in the three-team deal that also involved the Utah Jazz.
Doncic posted his first public statement early Sunday evening on his social media, sharing a heartfelt goodbye to the city of Dallas and Mavs fans.

Grateful for this amazing opportunity. Basketball means everything to me, and no matter where I play the game, I’ll do so with the same joy, passion and goal – to win championships. https://t.co/psfgI5o9Pn
