Major car manufacturer recalls over 140k vehicles: Here’s why

Toyota announced on Thursday it is recalling over 140,000 vehicles due to safety issues.

The company said in a press release that it is recalling about 106,000 models of its Tacoma 4-wheel drive vehicles. It also is recalling about 41,000 Toyota Camry and Lexus NX vehicles.

The Tacoma vehicles are being recalled because the rear brake hoses in the vehicles can be damaged over time due to a build-up of mud and dirt inside the rear wheels when operating under certain off-road conditions. This can result in a brake fluid leak and increase the risk of crash.

In the Camry and Lexus vehicles, the second-row center seatbelt might have been damaged during manufacturing and could cause it to not meet certain strength requirements.

Customers will be notified of all recalls by April. Replacements for both recalls will be done by Toyota dealers free of charge.

The affected vehicles include:

  • 2025 MY Toyota Camry
  • 2025 MY Lexus NX
  • 2024 MY Lexus RX
  • 2025 MY Lexus RX
  • 2024 MY Toyota Tacoma
