Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United team to face Leicester City in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round at Old Trafford has been announced.
New Reds signing Patrick Dorgu will make his full United debut after arriving from Lecce in the January transfer window. On the bench, fellow new recruit Ayden Heaven is named among the nine substitutes, as is another potential debutant – Academy goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk.
Altay Bayindir has appeared for Amorim’s side in previous cup meetings but was ruled out by the head coach earlier this week, with Andre Onana retaining his place in goal.
Elsewhere, Rasmus Hojlund comes in for Alejandro Garnacho in attack, with the rest of the side unchanged from our 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.
Explaining his reasons for bringing Dorgu into the line-up, Amorim told ITV Sport:
“I think he [Dorgu] needs to start playing. He did very well this week. We need wingers, even with the left foot sometimes on the opposite side, we can change sides.
“The wingers are really important for the way we see the game. He’s a talented young guy. He’s going to be nervous a little bit, so he will try to keep it simple in the beginning, but he’s a talented kid and he’s going to be okay.”
Hojlund’s recall means Mainoo will move back into one of the no.10 roles, having led the attack against Palace.
“I think Kobbie did very well in the last Europa League game (against Rangers),” Amorim told ITV.
“He can play near the striker with less responsibilities when he has to recover. He has to run to defend, but it’s a different type of recovering without the ball.
“And I like his one-against-one work near the box, so we’ll try to take advantage of his ability.”
