Josh McDaniels is the new Patriots offensive coordinator, but he hardly will be the only coach working with Drake Maye and company next season.
New England, of course, will have various position coaches under Mike Vrabel for the 2025 campaign. One of those roles, as outlined by The Boston Globe’s Nicole Yang, figures to be focused on quarterbacks. This would be a bit of a change of pace for McDaniels, who was offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for both of his last two stints in New England.
“Vrabel kept both an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach on staff in each of his six seasons as head coach in Tennessee, so it seems likely he will still designate a separate quarterbacks coach, even though McDaniels held both roles in 12 of his 13 seasons as coordinator in New England,” Yang wrote.
“This past season’s offensive coordinator, (Alex) Van Pelt, and quarterbacks coach, T.C. McCartney, remain options. As do Bo Hardegree, McDaniels’ quarterbacks coach in Las Vegas, and Pat O’Hara, Tennessee’s quarterbacks coach for five of Vrabel’s six seasons.”
It’s unclear which of those coaches has the best chance of becoming Patriots quarterbacks coach. Van Pelt should receive serious consideration following his work with both Maye and Joe Milton III, but the ex-offensive coordinator might not be on board with a demotion in New England. There’s also been speculation that Van Pelt could return to Cleveland.

Thus, the frontrunner very well could be O’Hara, as Vrabel already has brought multiple former Titans colleagues to Foxboro, Mass.
