(updated with new video, information)
Purdue basketball returns from a successful West Coast trip on a seven-game winning streak as it hosts Ohio State on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025.
The No. 12 Boilermakers (15-4, 7-1 Big Ten) got into a rock fight with Oregon over the weekend, but Trey Kaufman-Renn (23 points, including 9-of-9 free throw shooting, 11 rebounds) and Braden Smith (15 points, 7 assists, 4 steals) saw them through. Purdue made 5-of-25 3-pointers combined vs. Washington and Oregon, and C.J. Cox didn’t score. Maybe seeing the Paint Crew will provide a lift.
It’s hard to image a more hard-luck team than the Buckeyes (10-8, 2-5), who have lost their last three games by a combined 5 points.
- Oregon, 73-71: The Buckeyes lead by 5 points with 2:30 to go before the Ducks rally.
- Wisconsin, 70-68: OSU battles back from a 17-point halftime deficit but can’t quite catch the Badgers.
- Indiana, 77-76, OT: OSU rallies from 10 points down late in regulation to extend the game, but Bruce Thornton‘s 3-pointer at the end of overtime rims out.
Devin Royal, OSU’s second-leading scorer and leading rebounder, didn’t play against Indiana with a wrist injury. He is available, according to the Big Ten availability report.

Purdue basketball picks, prediction
Nathan Baird, IndyStar: Purdue 74-69
Getting off the road should allow Boilermakers to get their legs back — and reclaim their shooting touch.
Sam King, Journal & Courier: Purdue 84-70
While defense traveled to the Pacific Northwest, Purdue’s hot shooting inside Mackey Arena did not. In a friendlier environment, expect more shots to fall to package with the Boilermakers’ resurgent defense.
