There has been a heated discussion among Reddit users recently regarding hand-signed album copies.
Recently, BLACKPINK‘s Lisa and Jennie have been criticized for allegedly using autopen signatures for their signed albums and marketing them as hand-signed copies.
The allegations began when fans who purchased signed versions of Lisa’s debut solo album ‘Alter Ego’ noticed that the signatures looked identical and showed signs of typical autopen use such as abrupt start and stop points.
This was also visible in Jennie’s album sales when they noticed the same characteristics in her signatures on the signed photocards included in her album.
These fans took to a popular online forum, Reddit, to express their frustration and accused the idols of misleading them into thinking the albums were genuinely signed. These fans commented on the r/popculturechat subreddit, “It just feels intentionally misleading to present something as genuinely signed when it’s auto-penned. If they want to autopen, SAY SO, and actually charge an appropriate amount for them. Don’t charge the same as genuinely signed albums, because autopen takes no labor and doesn’t have the actual personal touch of the person someone is a fan of. It doesn’t have to be as shady as they’re making it,” and “This is such a fraud.”
