Raye is making her Grammy Awards debut tonight as a performer and nominee. The British singer-songwriter is nominated in three categories, including Best New Artist, Songwriter of the Year (Non-Classical), and Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical) for her work on Lucky Daye’s album Algorithm.

Raye wore a strapless black gown with an embellished sweetheart neckline. She wore her dark brown hair in a glamorous coiffed bob.

In a recent interview with People, Raye reflected on her journey to becoming a Grammy nominee, saying, “When I was little, the first image I saw was that gorgeous golden gramophone. For a British girl, you watch the Grammys at home, like, ‘Wow, one day maybe I’ll make it there.’ It’s that ultimate American dream. Now I’m actually going to attend. It’s real!”

Regarding the possibility of her winning a Grammy award tonight, Raye added, “I’m keeping my expectations low. I’m just happy to be invited. Anything more than that… I’ll have to work out how I’ll deal with that later.”

On Nov. 8, 2024, the artist shared an Instagram video of her initial reaction to the news of her Grammy nominations. She captioned the video of her crying, “God knows all it took to get here 😭😭😭 This is too much 😭😭😭 i can’t stop crying 😭😭😭.” “Grammy nominated tears” was written on the video.

Raye’s Grammy nominations this year follow the success of her critically acclaimed 2023 debut album, My 21st Century Blues, which featured the global hit “Escapism” and covered some of Raye’s deeply personal experiences including addiction, body dysmorphia, and sexual assault. The album also led to a historic night at the 2024 BRIT Awards, where Raye won six awards, including Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best New Artist, British R&B Act, and Songwriter of the Year.
