‘Saturday Night Live’ season 50 schedule: Is ‘SNL’ new tonight?

“Saturday Night Live” is gearing up for a weekend of 50th anniversary celebrations, but will there be a new episode of the sketch comedy show?

There won’t be a new episode of “SNL” on Saturday, Feb. 15. Instead, NBC will re-air the first ever episode of “SNL,” which initially premiered in 1975.

The inaugural episode featured host George Carlin and musical performances from Billy Preston and Janice Ian.

For those disappointed that there won’t be a new episode tonight, there’s plenty of other new “SNL” content to enjoy. “SNL50: The Homecoming Concert” debuted on Peacock on Friday, Feb. 14.

The three-hour musical event featured performances from Arcade Fire, Bad Bunny, Brandi Carlile, Jack White, Lady Gaga, Post Malone and The Roots. Jimmy Fallon hosted live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

All the celebrations have led up to “SNL50: The Anniversary Special,” which airs on NBC and Peacock on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. EST. Prior to the live broadcast, “SNL50: The Red Carpet” will feature interviews with the star-studded guest list.
