A video shared online shows former Major League Baseball pitchers Pat Mahomes Sr., the father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and John Rocker getting into a heated exchange in New Orleans.
The video, which was shared by X user @TrindonHo11iday, shows the two arguing while being separated by multiple people on Bourbon Street. The clip was reshared by Barstool Sports‘ X account days after the media company’s founder, Dave Portnoy, revealed that he was negotiating to have the two former MLB pitchers face each other in a boxing match for an upcoming Rough N’ Rowdy pay-per-view event.
“That’s a factual rumor,” Portnoy responded when asked by vlogger Adan Glyn if the two were pegged to compete at the boxing event. “I think it’s 100%, but I haven’t seen the signed paperwork yet.”
The elder Mahomes pitched for six MLB teams, including the New York Mets in 1999 and 2000, which coincided with Rocker, then a closer for the Atlanta Braves, making controversial comments about New York City when asked by Sports Illustrated if he would ever play for the Mets or New York Yankees, which included targeting several ethnic groups and the LGBTQ community. It’s unclear when the incident took place in relation to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs lost Super Bowl LIX to the Philadelphia Eagles at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday (February 9).
